What Is the Three Step Rewind?
Three Step Rewind is a structured, trauma-informed process widely used across perinatal mental health services.
It was originally adapted from NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and refined specifically for pregnancy, birth, feeding and postnatal trauma.

It helps your brain reprocess an overwhelming experience so the memory:

loses its emotional charge

stops triggering a stress response

becomes part of your past, not something you’re reliving
You do not need to retell the whole story.
You do not relive the experience.
You remain fully in control throughout.

Who Is This For?


Three Step Rewind can help if you have experienced:
Birth trauma (any type of birth)
Induction or emergency caesarean that felt overwhelming
Loss of control, panic, fear or dismissal
Feeding trauma, grief or guilt
NICU experiences
Pregnancy trauma (including IVF stress, complications, hyperemesis)
A traumatic miscarriage or baby loss (handled with deep care)
Tokophobia (fear of birth)
Feeling “stuck,” “on edge,” numb or unable to move forward

The Three Steps




STEP 1 - The Story Gently Unpacked
We begin with what’s happening now - the feelings, triggers or challenges you're experiencing, and what you want instead.
You share only what you feel comfortable sharing.
This session is grounding, calm and fully led by you.​
You’ll also receive a soothing relaxation recording to listen to between sessions, supporting your nervous system and helping the shift to embed gently.

STEP 2 - Rewind (The Memory Reprocessing)
Through guided relaxation, we revisit the memory safely, from a place of distance - like watching a film quietly from far away.
Your nervous system remains settled while your brain naturally reprocesses what’s been “stuck.”

STEP 3 - Re-Imprinting (Your Future Self)
We create a new internal sense of calm, confidence and safety, helping your mind integrate the change and move into the future without the emotional weight of the past. You’ll also receive a supporting relaxation recording to listen to as you move forward supporting your nervous system and helping to cement your new found calm.

3 sessions via Zoom (60–90 mins each)
