Emotional Support in Pregnancy and After Birth
Gentle, personalised online support when pregnancy, birth or becoming a parent has left you feeling anxious, overwhelmed or unlike yourself.
Funded support may be available
I work in partnership with The Birth Republic to help make emotional support more accessible.

If you are pregnant or have a child under two, you may be eligible for fully funded sessions.

Private support is also available at £150 for three sessions.
Perhaps something still doesn’t feel right
You might be replaying parts of your pregnancy, birth or early postnatal experience.
You may feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or constantly on edge.
Perhaps you are pregnant again and finding it difficult to feel calm or hopeful about the birth.
Or maybe everything looks fine from the outside, but inside you simply do not feel like yourself.
Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to prove that it is serious enough.
If it is affecting you, it matters.

This support may help if…
-
You keep replaying something that happened during pregnancy, birth or afterwards.
-
You feel anxious, low, unsettled or emotionally overwhelmed.
-
Certain memories or reminders bring difficult feelings rushing back.
-
You are frightened about another pregnancy or birth.
-
You feel disconnected from yourself, your baby or the parent you expected to be.
-
You feel constantly tense, on edge or as though something might go wrong.
-
You simply do not feel like yourself.
You may recognise several of these experiences, or only one.
You are still welcome to ask for support.
You won’t have to relive everything
Many people worry that getting support will mean describing every painful detail or repeatedly going back over what happened.

That is not how I work.

You decide what you want to share and when. You will not be pressured to tell your whole story, and you do not need to describe difficult experiences in detail for the sessions to be helpful.

Our work is gentle, structured and led by what feels manageable for you.

You remain in control throughout.
Support shaped around you
There is no single approach that is right for everyone.
We begin with what is affecting you now and what you would like to feel differently.

Depending on your needs, our sessions may include:
-
Hypnotherapy and guided relaxation
-
Mindfulness and grounding techniques
-
Three Step Rewind
-
Practical ways to calm an over-alert nervous system
-
Solution-focused conversations
-
Personalised recordings to use between sessions
Three Step Rewind can be helpful for difficult or traumatic memories, but it is not the only support I offer and it will not automatically be used with everyone.
Your sessions are shaped around you, rather than asking you to fit into a fixed programme.
What happens in the sessions?
We begin with where you are now
Your first session is a chance to talk about what is affecting you and what you would like to feel differently.
You do not need to tell your whole story or describe difficult experiences in detail.

We choose the right approach for you
Together, we decide what may be most helpful. This could include hypnotherapy, mindfulness, relaxation, Three Step Rewind or a combination of approaches.

We continue at your pace
In the following sessions, we build on what is helping and adapt the support around how you are feeling. You may also receive a personalised recording or simple techniques to use between appointments.

Sessions take place online
All sessions are held privately over Zoom, so you can access support from your own home.

You will need a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection and childcare for the duration of each session. This allows you to focus fully and helps ensure the session is safe, private and uninterrupted.

Most people work with me for between three and six sessions. We begin with three sessions and then review whether any further support would be helpful.
People I work with often describe:
Difficult memories feel less overwhelming
Feeling less pulled back into certain moments
Triggers and reminders feel easier to manage
Feeling calmer, more settled and less on edge
Thoughts feel less busy or intrusive
Feeling more able to think about the future
Beginning to feel more like themselves again
-
Everyone’s experience is different, and no particular outcome can be guaranteed.
-
The aim is not to erase what happened or tell you how you should feel.
-
It is to help the experience take up less space in your life now.

Ready to ask for support?
I believe emotional support should be as accessible as possible.

If you are pregnant or have a child under two, you may be eligible for fully funded sessions through The Birth Republic.

Funded support usually begins with three sessions. In some circumstances, further sessions may be available depending on your needs.

Not sure whether this is the right support for you?
You are welcome to send me a message before applying. You do not need to explain everything, a few words about what you are struggling with is enough.
