You thought it would fade… but it hasn’t
On the outside, everything might look “fine”.
But something still doesn’t sit right.
You might find yourself:
-
replaying certain moments, even when you don’t want to
-
feeling on edge, overwhelmed, or unexpectedly emotional
-
avoiding reminders of birth, feeding, or hospital care
-
struggling to switch off or sleep properly
-
feeling disconnected from yourself, your baby, or both
-
wondering why you can’t just move on
You may have been told:
“at least your baby is healthy”
“it’s all over now”
But your body hasn’t caught up with that.
“After my birth experience, I couldn’t stop replaying the worst moments. Working with Joy has genuinely changed my life. I feel calm again and able to enjoy being a mum.”
– Katie, Client Review

This isn’t a weakness - it’s how your brain protects you
When an experience isn’t fully processed, it doesn’t settle into the past. It stays active, which is why it keeps showing up in your thoughts, your body and your reactions.

This is how the brain responds to overwhelm.
Not a weakness.
Not something you’ve done wrong.
And it can be resolved.

What we do
This work focuses on how your brain processes and stores experiences.
Instead of talking everything through, we use structured, trauma-informed techniques that help your brain safely reprocess what happened.

This includes:
-
TBR Three Step Rewind
-
hypnotherapy-based approaches
-
nervous system regulation techniques

These approaches are widely used to support recovery from trauma, anxiety and overwhelm. They allow the memory to be processed properly so it no longer triggers the same response.
You stay in control throughout.
You don’t need to relive or retell everything.

Why this works
When the brain completes the processing of an overwhelming experience, it recognises that it is over.
That’s when the shift happens.
Not through analysing it.
Not through forcing yourself to move on but by allowing your system to process what it didn’t get the chance to at the time.
What changes after
After working together, parents often notice:

-
the memories feel more distant and less intrusive
-
they are no longer pulled back into those moments
-
their body feels calmer and more settled
-
fewer emotional spikes or triggers
-
better sleep and ability to switch offfeeling more present with their baby and daily life
-
a sense of being back in themselves
“I no longer feel stuck in those memories. I can focus on my life now.”

If this is sounding familiar - you don't need to keep carrying it

This is for you if...
-
you feel stuck in certain memories or moments
-
your reactions feel stronger than they should
-
something still feels unresolved underneath anxiety or low mood
-
you are avoiding reminders of what happened
-
you don’t feel like yourself anymore
You don’t need a diagnosis.
If it’s still affecting you, that’s enough.
If you're still reading this ...
There’s a reason.
You don’t need to have the right words.
You don’t need to be sure.
You can just start with a conversation.

You don't have to keep carrying this
Many parents I work with say:
“I just want to stop going over it”
“I want to feel calm again”
“I want to enjoy this time”
That is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
Start with a simple first step
A short, private chat to talk things through and see if this feels right for you.
You can message or email to arrange a time that works for you.
No pressure. No expectation.
When this might not be the right step (yet)
If you are currently experiencing: a mental health crisis, active thoughts of harming yourself, severe dissociation or psychosis
More immediate or specialist support may be needed first.
If you’re unsure, I can help you find the right next step.
