About this session

This is focused, one-off birth preparation for when you have specific questions, decisions or areas you want time to explore.

You might be weighing up your options, trying to put together your birth preferences, preparing for a planned caesarean or simply feeling a bit muddled by everything you have read and heard.

We start with what you need most and use the two hours to focus on that.

This is not a full antenatal course and we will not try to cover everything about birth, feeding and life with a newborn. It is dedicated time to talk through the things that matter most to you.

Not everyone needs a full antenatal course

You may already have attended antenatal classes, had a baby before or done plenty of your own reading and research.

But having lots of information does not always make it easier to know what applies to you or what you want to do next.

Sometimes it helps to have proper time to ask questions, make sense of your options and talk things through without feeling rushed.

That is exactly what this session is for.

What can we use the session for?

There is no set agenda. We focus on the questions and topics that feel most useful to you.

You might use the session to:

Talk through your birth preferences or put together a birth plan

Explore induction of labour, caesarean birth, pain relief or other birth options

Prepare for a planned caesarean birth

Think about what you would like to approach differently after a previous birth experience

Talk through feeding plans or preparing for the early days with your baby

Make sense of conflicting information or advice

Prepare questions to discuss with your midwife or maternity team

Ask the questions you have not had time or space to ask elsewhere

What you'll take away from the session

A clearer understanding of the options or topics we have discussed

Time to properly think through what feels important to you

Greater clarity around your birth preferences or plans

Useful tools and information relevant to your own preparation

What's included

One private 2-hour birth preparation session

A session focused on your specific questions and priorities

Clear, evidence-based information to help you understand your options

Practical tools and strategies relevant to the topics we discuss
